Donna Maria Taylor's “Town and country”
Posted by Admin on
“Town and country” is a new exhibition of works by local artist Donna Maria Taylor showing at village gallery on Colliergate, York.
York artist Donna Maria Taylor is a mixed media artist working across a wide range of disciplines.
She has worked in the arts for over 30 years - mainly in the world of theatre design and production, where she has designed shows, painted scenery, and made props and costumes for a wide range of companies both here in the UK and abroad.
In recent years she has turned her attention to developing her own creative practice and now exhibits regularly both independently and with the Westside Artists group. In April 2022 she took part in York Open Studios for the third time.
Her current work is inspired by the world around her and incorporates collage, acrylics, watercolour, and inks. It is rare that she sticks to just one medium. Drawing is a fundamental part of her practice, as is experimenting with different techniques to achieve layered and unusual effects.
Donna is also regularly involved in community art projects in the city. She initiated the “A year of change – my bubble” project at the beginning of 2021 to help people through the winter lockdown and she also runs art workshops, weekly classes and art holidays.
Donna’s exhibition opens at village gallery York on Tuesday 7th June 2022, and it runs until Saturday 16th July.
