How do I open an account with village-on-the-web?
It couldn't be easier - just follow this link and complete the form.  You'll then be able to buy items from our shops.  Note:  opening an account doesn't commit you to anything, and we won't send you anything unless you place an order and/or sign up for our newsletter.

How do I sign up for the village newsletter?
Just go go our homepage (www.village-on-the-web.com) and use the small form under the picture on the right hand side.

I'm having trouble accessing a shop from its picture on the home page ...
Once the "pop up" for your chosen shop is on the screen, left click outside the pop up.  This will lock the pop up and let you enter the shop!  Additionally, all the shops are listed at the bottom of the homepage, and they are linked to the shops' home pages.  Alternatively, you can click the "view shops as text" button at the top of the picture.

Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes, we do.  Our vouchers can be bought for any value you wish and are redeemable against any of the products in the village.  One thing to remember is that we can't give "change" on a voucher, so you may want to buy several lower valued vouchers rather than one for the full amount you want to spend.
So - for example - if you want to give someone a gift to the value of £50, you could buy one £50 voucher or five £10 vouchers.  Once you've placed your order, we will send you a voucher code (or codes, if applicable), which you can pass on to the recipient.
Simple!  Please use this link to buy your vouchers.

I'd like to find out more about renting a shop in village-on-the-web ...
We're always happy to discuss this with potential storekeepers.  Please email us, or telephone us on 01904 411444.

How do I contact one of the village-on-the-web storekeepers?
Storekeepers' contact details are on the top right hand side of each shop's homepage.

Buying items

Do I have to pay for each item I've bought separately?
No you don't - and that's the beauty of shopping at village-on-the-web.  You can buy as many items as you want, from as many shops as you want, but have just one basket and pay just one bill when you're finished.

How do I pay for my purchases?
All village-on-the-web purchases have to be paid by either debit or credit card. We accept all major cards, with the exception of American Express and Diners - and there is no surcharge for using a credit card.  We do not process PayPal payments.

I want to buy more than one item - will you combine and reduce the postage?
Yes, we will, if they are all from the same shop.  Please contact the relevant storekeeper, who will give you a quotation and make the necessary arrangements.

The item I want says  "price on application" for the postage - why is that?  What should I do?
It could be that the item is, for example, very fragile or very bulky, and the storekeeper will want to make different arrangements for transporting it, depending on which part of the world it is going to.  Please contact the relevant storekeeper to discuss.

Can I collect an item in person instead of having it delivered?
Yes, if it is more convenient for both you and the storekeeper.  Please contact the relevant storekeeper to discuss.

Once you have made a purchase

My parcel hasn't arrived ...
Delivery sometimes takes slightly longer than anticipated, so please do allow a couple of days' grace.  If your parcel still hasn't arrived, please contact the relevant storekeeper, with a copy to office@village-on-the-web.com, so that we can start search proceedings with the carrier.

The item I bought has arrived damaged ...
Our items are always packaged to prevent damage during transit, but very occasionally there may be a problem.  Please contact the relevant storekeeper, with a copy of office@village-on-the-web.com, so that we can contact the carrier and sort things out.

Now that I've seen the item I don't want it any more ...
Under the Distance Selling Regulations, you may cancel a Contract to purchase at any time within 14 working days, beginning on the day after you received the products. In this case, you will receive a full refund of the price paid for the products in accordance with our refunds policy (clause 4.5 in our Terms of Website Supply).

To cancel a Contract, you must inform the storekeeper in writing, with a copy to office@village-on-the-web.com. You must also return the product(s) to the storekeeper at the address shown on the Dispatch Confirmation immediately, in the same condition in which you received them, and at your own cost and risk. You have a legal obligation to take reasonable care of the products while they are in your possession. If you fail to comply with this obligation, the storekeeper may have a right of action against you for compensation.
