Antique solid silver vinaigrette, with gilt interior. The interior grill features a flower and leaf cut-out design. The vinaigrette is fully hallmarked: The lid is marked with George IV head, maker 'IS' and lion passant. The base under the grill is marked with the Birmingham anchor, maker 'IS' and date letter 'X'. This identifies Birmingham maker John Shaw and 1821. The vinaigrette is in very good condition. There are a few minor surface dents commensurate with age and use. The interior gilt is not worn. Both the hinge to the interior grill and the outer case are in fine working condition. The case close snap fastener is perhaps a little loose, but does hold the lid shut. No splits or holes have been noted. The vinaigrette measures approximately 3.25 cm x 2.5 cm x .75 cm (1.25' x 1' x .25'). It weighs 13.5g. Please see photos as these form an important part of the description.
