Antique Georgian gilt silver fruit serving/table spoon. The bowl of the spoon features an embossed fruits design. The front of the handle is further embellished with foliate designs and the finial has a blank cartouche. This decoration was probably applied much later than the original manufacture … it was a fashionable thing to have done in Victorian times. The spoon is fully hallmarked for London, 1797, the George III duty mark and it bears the maker's mark for Richard Crossley. All marks are clear, though the maker's marks and the lion passant mark are fairly rubbed. The spoon bowl measures 4.5 cm (1.75') by 8 cm (3'). The overall length is 21.5 cm (8.5'). It weighs 77g. All measurements are approximate. The spoon is in very good condition. The overall gilding is worn Please study all photos as these form an important part of the description.
