Alan Clarke
Starting in 1972, Alan Clarke spent over 30 years working for Poole Pottery. He was a leading designer - to wit, he designed "Dorset Fruit", one of Poole's best-selling tableware patterns - and helped produce many of Poole’s limited edition living glaze designs.
He now works from his own studio in Stoke-on-trent Staffordshire.
Alan Clarke's flamboyant excursion into a fantasy world of interacting shapes and colours captures the imagination in a uniquely personal way. This is pure expression of feelings rather than structured thoughts and provides an emotional challenge, which has tremendous vitality. The main composition of each design is skillfully produced by the aerograph technique and is enhanced with the use of the paint brush. Each design is created entirely by hand therefore each piece is unique, no two pieces will be exactly the same.
