Jill Solich

Jill is originally from Cheshire.

She gained a degree in Visual Communication at Wolverhampton Polytechnic, followed by an Art Teaching Certificate at Brighton Polytechnic.

She continued her enjoyment of arts and crafts whilst raising her family and used these skills working as a Teaching Assistant in the local primary school for several years.

However, with approaching retirement she had the desire to develop her drawing and painting skills further so joined a life drawing class in York. About the same time, she taught herself watercolours, initially from a book, and has grown to love the medium with its unpredictability and lovely fluidity. She has recently discovered lino printing which she has found to be quite addictive.

Jill’s inspiration comes mainly from the natural world; flowers, still life, scenery, and children's portraits.

Jill is a member of the York Art Society, exhibiting with them each year, and she helps run an art exhibition in her home village of Copmanthorpe.
