"Seeking rosettes, Great Yorkshire Show".

Original acrylic painting by York artist Julie Lightburn.

The Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate is the largest agricultural show in England. Julie tries to visit at least two or three shows a year; often the much smaller local shows, and usually the Nidderdale Show that marks the end of the season.  She loves the whole atmosphere of these traditional events; the brass bands, WI teas, local produce, arts and crafts, and the finest livestock, all competing for rosettes.

The picture is framed in an unglazed frame.

The framed picture measures 34.3 cm by 44.6 cm … the actual visible picture is 29.5 cm by 40 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Julie is a self-taught artist who is known for her detailed paintings of Yorkshire landscapes - heather clad hills, distant dales, sandy beaches, secret gardens and city corners.
