Paul Dene Marlor

Paul was born in 1969 in West Yorkshire, England. He has always worked in the creative industry, studying graphic design and later running a design agency. He has been a professional artist since 2007, and has held solo and group exhibitions, selling his paintings both nationally and abroad.

Paul predominantly paints in watercolour, a medium which he enjoys for its transparency and fluidity. He is a versatile painter and his work is varied including landscapes, seascapes, still life, wildlife and floral. Although Paul paints mostly in watercolour, he is also adept in acrylic, oil, gouache and pastel.

Paul's landscape paintings are mostly in and around the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines, though he has also painted in the Lake District and Snowdonia.

“The beauty of the Pennine landscape where I work and live, particularly the wind swept moors, begs to be painted.

“Although there can be a great amount of detail in some of my wildlife work, some of my landscapes can be quite loose and leave the viewer to fill in the gaps with their imagination.”

Paul spends as much time as he can outdoors sketching, painting and taking reference photos.

In 2015 Paul was awarded SAA professional Artist of the year.

Many of his paintings are available as limited edition prints and cards.
